SCIENTISTS

People skilled in the identification of organisms (see here) are essential in order to make the BioBlitz work. Otherwise how on earth do we identify everything? Scientists also play an important role in telling us about the wonderful species they study and increasing our awareness and appreciation of efforts to conserve them.

If you are a scientist keen to be involved in the Mana BioBlitz, we would love to her from you.

How you can help:
  • Become a ‘base camp’ expert, identifying species in our make-shift labas they are found and lodged with us.
  • Prepare collections for expert identification and other general lab support.
  • Give a talk or set up an information display at our launch weekend and final weekend.
  • Conduct your own surveys – any time during the month.
  • Lead guided walks and species hunts with the public.
We already have a great team of scientists on board. However, as you will know, the range and volume of organisms we will have to identify will be substantial. So all and any additional help we can get would be most welcome.

To become a BioBlitz scientist, please email us with details of your areas of interest and expertise and the dates and times you are available. We will reply with a suggested schedule and contact person for you.
